Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) to establish its pharmacies across all electoral districts.
“This is being done in order to ease the financial burden faced by people while purchasing medicines,” Minister Senaratne said. He noted that directives in this regard have been issued to SPC President Dr. M.H. Mohammed Rumi.
SPC pharmacies have now been set up in the Matale, Dambulla, Dharga Town and Kegalle areas as a part of this project.
A sum of Rs 7058 million was allocated for this project last year.
Meanwhile, 298 people have received employment as a result of this project until now.
