Heavy traffic has been reported in Union Place and Town Hall due to a protest by university students.
Accordingly, police have requested drivers to use alternative routes until the situation is restored to normal.
The protest had been organised by the Inter University Students Federation citing academic issues at the Sri Jayawardenapura university.
Accordingly, they had commenced their protest at the Colombo University and had proceeded towards the University Grants Commission.
