The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) will be back to business from Monday April 20, according to the ICTA Chairman, Jayantha De Silva. The government has given approval to begin work slowly since some major projects are on hold.
Mr. Silva referred to the ICTA resumption of business during a public webinar organized by the Federation of the Technology Industry of Sri Lanka (FITIS) on Friday.
He said, “The government has given the approval to begin work at ICTA from Monday. Only 20 per cent of the staff will be brought in for work while strict precautions will be taken to maintain social distancing, wearing face masks and washing hands.”
He mentioned that more than logistical processes, there are more physical processes to be done on some major projects that are on hold. The President had instructed ICTA to continue projects that are on hold such as the e-grama niladari project, national identity card project and immigration department project. ((Raj Moorthy)
