The visa division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration is currently in the process of introducing an Online Application Submission service for the purpose of extending the visas of foreign nationals, the department said in a statement.
Earlier, the validity period of all types of Visas issued to all foreigners who are currently residing in Sri Lanka had been extended till May 12 considering the spread of Covid-19 virus in the country.
However, in line with the Government policy to revive the economy while paying special attention to the challenges posed in Sri Lanka in the wake of COVID – 19 outbreak, the Department has also planned to provide its services to the customers.
Accordingly, successful submission of an application will be facilitated with an Appointment Notice for the applicant to visit the Department. The procedure for the submission of applications will be advertised in due course.
In par with public health safety, all visa holders awaiting to extend existing visas are kindly requested to stay until the Online Application Submission System is in place. The department said those who possess due Appointment Notice are only permitted to enter the Visa Division of the Department when the Department opens for public after scheduled curfew lift.
