Officers of the Department of Immigration and Emigration at the Bandaranaike International Airport have taken steps to deport a Palestinian national who arrived in the country today (May 11).
The Palestinian national aged 26 years was pursuing higher education in India and arrived in the country via Bangalore on a temporary visa.
When immigration officials questioned the individual regarding the purpose of his visit to Sri Lanka, he was unable to give a proper answer. Further he was unable to furnish details of accommodation in the country during his stay.
Taking into account the security situation in the country, officials had decided to send back the Palestinian national to India from where he originally boarded the flight.
