In pictures: Police disperse student protesters

Following are scenes from yesterday's protest by the Inter University Bhikkhu Federation (IUBF) in Colombo. The protesters attempted to march on the Presidential Secretariat last afternoon. However, police blocked off Lotus Road by placing barricades.

The protesters attempted to break through the barricades, prompting police to fire tear gas and water cannon to disperse them.
