The annual Sri Pada pilgrimage season commenced yesterday (28) with the casket housing sacred relics, the statue of God Saman and the jewelry dedicated to the God being taken in ceremonial procession from the Pelmadulla Galpoththawala Sri Pada Rajamaha Vihara.
Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the number of devotees attending the procession has been kept to a minimum this year. The procession will made its way to Sri Pada where the sacred relics were taken to the 'Uda Maluwa' in Sri Pada. They will be kept there from Unduvap Full Moon Poya today (29) until Vesak Full Moon Poya in May for devotees to worship.
