An IT officer at the Presidential Secretariat who had hacked into the database of the President's Fund was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday (Jul 1).
He had been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for hacking into the database and changing its password.
However, Colombo Additional Magistrate Thanuja Jayatunga released the suspect on a cash bail of Rs 10,000 and two surety bails worth Rs 200,000 each.
During today's hearing, the Magistrate ordered the suspect to appear before the CID on every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm.
The suspect was warned to refrain from repeating such offences and threatening any witness who gave evidence against him in the case.
