In 2016, Jayanthi and Johann were the first Sri Lankans to undertake the challenge of summiting Everest but Johann had to return without making to the top as his oxygen tank failed 400 meters before the summit.
His local team in Colombo reported on their FB page that Johann has now begun his descent, which is far more treacherous than the ascent and will take two days to reach the Base Camp, when he will be in communication with his team.
