The Kurunegala Teaching Hospital doctor who was arrested for suspiciously acquiring assets has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further questioning.
Complaints had been received regarding the doctor who is attached to the Hospital's Gynaecology and Obstetrics Section, Hospital Director Dr. Sarath Weerabandara told a news conference yesterday (May 25).
He noted that any woman who claims to have been affected physically while undergoing cesarian birth surgery performed by the doctor, could complaint to the hospital regarding the matter.
Dr. Weerabandara pointed out that the doctor who is accused of sterilizing women while performing cesarian surgery, had been attached to several other hospitals previously.
Accordingly, he noted that the authenticity of the claims against the doctor could be determined by considering the records of the surgeries which he had performed previously.
