Lion Brewery, producers of Sri Lanka’s main brand of beers – Lion and Carlsberg-, said on Wednesday that it has resumed full production at its factory at Biyagama.
The factory. which was badly affected by severe floods in May 2016 bringing production to a standstill, has begun production with the company saying the ‘full portfolio’ of brands will be available in the market soon.
Since production stopped in May, the company has been forced to import stocks with Lion beer cans coming from a canning plant in South-East Asia. The company’s imports also drew protests from opposition politicians saying the beer company had got special tax concessions on imports from the government. -ENDS -
