Lotus Road in Colombo has been closed for vehicular traffic by police due to a protest. The protest is being conducted by three-wheeler drivers opposed to the Rs.25,000 fine increase for several traffic offences.
Heavy traffic has been reported in the area.
Several three-wheeler drivers' unions have also joined private bus trade unions in launching an island-wide strike against the proposed fine increases.
