The Cost of Living Committee appointed by the Cabinet has forwarded a recommendation to increase the price of a 12.5 kg LP Gas cylinder by Rs 195 while recommending that the prices of milk powder be reduced by Rs 25 a kilogram.
The price hike was recommended by the Committee following a proposal received from gas companies.
Gas companies proposed an increase in the price of a 12.5 Kg of a gas cylinder to Rs.325 due to the price hike in the world market and the rupee slide against the US Dollar.
Meanwhile, the government ordered Prima Ceylon Ltd. to reduce the cost on a kilogram of wheat flour by five rupees.
