The meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa will not take place tomorrow as scheduled as the former President is too busy, MP Kumar Welgama said today. He said the meeting had been scheduled for 7 p.m. forSaturday but now it will not take place. In addition to having a full schedule for the day, Mr.Welgama said the time for the two to meet is not opportune as officials who worked under the previous regime are being hounded by the government and there is political victimization. “We are keen to safeguard the unity of the SLFP and hope the meeting will take place another time” he added. - Chandani Kirinde
