Measure being taken to bring back stranded Lankans in Yemen

Urgent measures are being taken to have Sri Lankans stranded in Yemen brought back to the island in stages  with the assistance of Indian and Kenyan Embassies, an Official of the Foreign Affairs Ministry was quoted by local media. According to media reports about 67 Sri Lankans are caught up in the war in Yemen. The Sri Lankan Mission in Oman is currently coordinating the evacuation efforts as there was no Sri Lankan Embassy in Yemen. He said some of the stranded Sri Lankans were reported  to have proper travel documents with them. However, he said steps have been taken to facilitate their return to the country. He said the stranded Sri Lankans would be brought back either by sea or air.
