Measures are being taken at the Presidential Secretariat to grant a presidential pardon to Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Gnanasara Thero, the Ravaya Movement said.
"We called on the President at his official residence and handed over the letters of the Mahanayake Thero's who had called for a presidential pardon" General Secretary of the Movement Ven. Magalkande Sudantha Thero said while addressing a press briefing in Colombo yesterday (Jan 29)
He also claimed that President Maithripala Sirisena had agreed to release the Thero on presidential pardon although he had not provided a definite timeframe for the release.
"However, according to sources presidential pardon would be granted on February 04" the General Secretary said.
