Former Minister Mervyn Silva has removed the foundation stone laid by the National Housing Development Authority for a housing project at the archaeological site known as 'Belumgala' in Ipalogama.
A group led by the former Minister visited the site, which comes under the Ipalogama Divisional Secretariat Division, after media exposed the alleged destruction caused to the site by clearing activities conducted in the area under the cover of the housing project.
He insisted that all those who were responsible for the destruction should be punished and removed the foundation stone laid for the project.
