Mirihana Police have commenced investigations into the assault of an OIC in charge of the 119 Emergency Division today (Apr 19).
IG's Command and Information Division Director SP Amith Gunaratne is suspected of involvement in the assault of the OIC identified as Chief Police Inspector S.A Jayathilaka on Wednesday.
OIC Jayathilaka who was admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital following the assault was discharged yesterday.
Meanwhile, two police officers have filed complaints at the Mirihana Police against the injured OIC by claiming that he had levelled threats against them, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Accordingly, investigations have commenced into these complaints as well, the spokesman noted.
