A motor vehicle which is suspected to have been used in the abduction of two businessmen in Rathgama was recovered in Matara yesterday (Feb 27).
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) sleuths had seized the vehicle at a businessman's residence and had taken measures to transport it to Galle.
Investigations revealed that a close friend of the businessman who was attached to the Southern Police Special Investigations Unit had borrowed the vehicle on January 22 citing urgent reasons.
The friend had then returned the vehicle the next day after having carried out the abduction.
Vehicles which were used to abduct the businessmen and to transport their remains were also seized from the possession of two businessmen in Akmeemana on previous occasions.
