The Fisheries Ministry has taken steps to secure release of Sri Lankan fishermen and their four boats detained by Bangladesh Coastguard for trespassing charges, the Ministry said.
Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Douglas Devananda who met the relatives of the arrested fishermen at the Ministry yesterday said moves are underway to secure their release as soon as possible. Minister also took up the issue with officials at the Embassy of Bangladesh in his regard.
