Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa signed nomination papers to contest upcoming general election under the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), National Freedom Party (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa said today.
He also said the Chief Minister of Western Provincial Council Prasanna Ranathunga signed the nomination papers to contest in Gamphaha district while former ministers Bandula Gunawardena and Vasudeva Nanayakara were given nomination under UPFA ticket.
Mr Weerawansa rejected the allegations made by the opposition parties that certain candidates were involved in corruption in the past, demanded the United National Party (UNP) should remove the names of the corrupt candidates from its own nomination list first.
