The Mullaitivu Magistrate court yesterday ordered the 58 Division of the army to produce the name list of the individuals who surrendered to them during the final phases of war in 2009.
The courts gave the directive when a a writ of habeas corpus hearing filed by Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member Ananthy Sasitharan and five others. The Brigadier of the 58 Division who was present at the courts disclosed to the courts that none of the names mentioned in the petitioners on the list which documented the surrenderees to the army .
The Magistrate of Mullaitivi Courts M. S. M. Samsudeen ordered the Division to submit the list at the next hearing. Earlier the cases were filed at the Vavuniya courts and it was directed to Mullaitivu Magistrate to finalise investigations.
