Musician Jananath Warakagoda has been remanded until March 18 over an accident that resulted in the death of a woman in Kadawatha this morning (March 12).
The woman had died after she was hit by the singer's vehicle at a pedestrian crossing opposite the Kirillawela Divisional Secretariat. The victim, a 62-year old was rushed to the Ragama hospital for treatment where she had succumbed to her injuries.
Mr. Warakagoda was taken into custody following the incident and was remanded after being produced before the Mahara Magistrates Court today.
The remains of the victim currently lie at the Ragama hospital. Kadawatha police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
