The Minister who was responding to a question raised during the conference called SriLankan Airlines a "vanity project that Sri Lanka can hardly afford."
Previously, a gazette notification was issued to the effect last week that SriLankan Airlines and its subsidiaries which were previously under the purview of President Maithripala Sirisena would be temporarily transferred to the Finance Ministry with effect from March 7.
