Fishermen from Tamil Nadu have alleged that Sri Lanka naval personnel have attacked them while they were fishing near Katchatheevu. Three fishermen have been injured in the alleged attack by Sri Lankan naval personnel. The Fishermen's Association leader have told the Indian media that Sri Lankan naval personnel pelted stones and threw bottles at the fishermen and also cut the fishing nets of five boats. The fishermen were part of a group of about 2,300 who had put out to sea yesterday in 565 boats from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. Fearing further attacks, the other fishermen returned to shore without any catch, the fishermen's representative said. (PTI)
