Four distressed fishermen who were trapped in the seas 26 nautical miles off Kirinda Fisheries harbour, were rescued by an Inshore Patrol Craft (ICP) attached to Southern Naval Command, yesterday (16th Sep).
The trawler named “Kamila II” had left the Kirinda fisheries harbour on the 10th of September. Subsequently the trawler capsized around the Little Bases lighthouse.
The rescue operation was carried out following a tip-off by the Fisheries Inspectorate at Kirinda. The rescued fishermen were handed over to their relatives following the rescue operation.
