Navy Sampath remanded over disappearances of 11 youths in Colombo
The Colombo magistrate courts today remanded Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi , popularly known as ‘Navy Sampath’ until August 29 over the abduction of 11 youths in Colombo during the last stages of the war. He was arrested by the CID yesterday, at Lotus Road Colombo along with a fake National Identity Card.
The 44 year old former Lept Commanding officer of Navy was also named as one of the key suspect over the assassination of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian N. Raviraj.
The 11 youth went missing in 2008 and 2009 and are believed to have been killed.Previously, the CID arrested Navy officers including the former Navy Spokesperson, Commodore D.K.P. Dassanayake in relation to the case
