Residents in Ella and Haldumulla divisional secretariat divisions and surrounding areas in Badulla district, Rattota DS division in Matale district and Kalawana, Weligapola, Nivithigala and Imbulpe DS divisions in Ratnapura district have been asked to be cautious by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO)of possible landslides, rock falls and cutting or slope failures.
The NBRO issuing a warning said as rainfall during the past 24 hours has been more than 75 mm, residents in the areas should be more watchful of signs of landslides, ground subsidence, rock falls and slope/cutting failures.
Meanwhile, 36 families have been temporarily moved to a safe place as the Beragala-Koslanda road is at rock fall risk due to heavy rains, Haputale Divisional Secretary Sunil Abeykoon said.
