The Government presented the Bill to enact a new Inland Revenue law to Parliament today.
The Bill was presented by Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella. It will replace the Inland Revenue Act of 2006.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the Bill has been drafted after extensive discussions with all stakeholders and was meant to tighten the loopholes in revenue collection.
JVP MP and Chief Opposition Whip Anura Dissanayaka urged the Government to further discuss the Bill before enacting it into law.
