The newly appointed Tourism Minister Wasantha Senanayake on Tuesday met the tourism industry and gave the go-ahead for the planned launch of the new Sri Lanka brand identity “So, Sri Lanka” at the World Travel Mart (WTM) in London next Monday.
Industry members were present at the meeting on Tuesday where they briefed the minister on the WTM plans and schedule and extended an invitation for the minister’s participation at the event as well.
Minister Senanayake had stated that he would try his best to attend the key event WTM in London scheduled to commence on Monday.
The minister had also assured the industry that he would issue a statement from the Tourism Ministry to assure travellers of their safety during their visit to the country.
The industry had requested the minister to issue a statement from the Tourism Ministry pertaining to the current situation and insisted that due to a lot of negative publicity the government needs to assure tourists that they would not be affected by the current political crisis in the country.
