At least nine local fishermen who were engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the sea area off Pallemunai arrested by naval personnel attached to North Central Naval Command today.
Along with the suspects; 4 traditional boats (rafters) and 4 monofilament nets used for fishing activities were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for further investigations.
