Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya at a briefing held today said results for around 75% of the wards in the Local Government Election will be announced by 9.00pm tonight.
He said that no major incidents were reported during polling and was quoted as telling media that the overall voter turnout was around 65%,
All results will be released by around 12 noon tomorrow (Feb. 11), he also requested the public and candidates to continue to maintain a peaceful post-elections period in the country.
