Finance Minister Mangala Samarawera announced today that he has amended the schedule in the Excise Notification No.66 of the Gazette Extraordinary of 1979 to allow females over 18 years to purchase alcohol legally.
He has also lifted the existing prohibition on employing females in licensed premises without prior approval from Excise Commissioner.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
