The Education Ministry says it would not release the rankings of the top ten achievers of the G C E Advanced Level examination this year.
A senior ministry official said this move would be undertaken to eliminate unnecessary competition among students.
However, the official noted that the island-wide and district level rankings of candidates would be sent directly to the schools to facilitate their admission to state universities.
Further, schools have been strictly advised against publicising the rankings of their candidates.
