Nominations for the upcoming parliamentary election will continue to be accepted again from today until 12 noon on Thursday, Election Commission sources and District Secretaries confirmed.
While the Government has declared a three-day special holiday until Thursday, it has clarified that they are not public holidays. District Secretariats and Divisional Secretariats are among the institutions that are being kept open.
Nominations for the election were not accepted yesterday (16) as the Government had declared it as a public holiday.
Election Commission sources stated that the EC will reassess the situation after the closing of nominations on Thursday on whether to postpone the election with the agreement of the President.
