One person was injured after a lorry crashed into the Southern Expressway's Nilwala Exit at Godagama in Matara at about 11.25pm last night (25).
Police said the lorry had crashed head-on into the Nilwala Exit's Toll Gate Number 1, causing severe damage. The vehicle had been carrying goods from Colombo to Hakmana. Police said the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
The driver's assistant suffered injuries in the incident and was admitted to the Matara Hospital. Matara Police are investigating.
