Parliament sittings were suspended a short while ago after joint opposition MPs disrupted sittings as the debate on the missing persons office bill was to be taken up for debate.
The joints opposition MPs demanded more time for the debate which was scheduled to begin today and wind up tomorrow at 11 am. Speaker Karu jJayasuriya suspended sittings and called for a party leaders meeting to discuss how the debate can continue.
The joint opposition lawmakers wore black arm bands when they came to parliament today to show opposition to the bill.
