Parliament temporarily suspended following uproar

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya temporarily suspended Parliament a short while ago to hold a party leaders' meeting. 

Parliament was suspended after MPs from the Joint Opposition protested during a statement made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

An emergency session of Parliament was convened today to debate the report by the Commission of Inquriy into the issuance of Treasury Bonds. 

However, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed Parliament that President Maithripala Sirisena had informed that he would hand over the Bond Commission's report to Parliament next week.
