The current security situation of the country will be taken up for debate tomorrow (May 06) and on Wednesday, the Speaker's Office said.
This decision was taken during the party leader's meeting which was held at the parliamentary complex this afternoon.
During the meeting, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had advised party leaders to engage in a responsible debate instead of hurling insults at each other. Tomorrow's parliamentary session is set to commence at 1 pm.
Meanwhile, Speaker Jayasuriya issuing a special statement today observed that the statements of the President and the Prime Minister on certain important matters of the country had helped to eliminate the uncertainty among people.
He also lauded the manner in which religious leaders especially the Cardinal had conducted themselves in a responsible and self-constrained manner.
"This is an example which political leader's could follow by leaving aside one's narrow motives and instead working towards acheiving a common framework on behalf of one's motherland," the Speaker's message read.
