A vote on the second reading of the budget will be taken up in Parliament today (March 12), which comes following five days of debate.
Commenting on the debate so far, Minister Daya Gamage pointed out that the opposition did not have sufficient claims to disapprove the budget.
However, United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarian Rajith Soysa yesterday said that the opposition would definitely vote against the budget. JVP's Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa too echoed similar sentiments of MP Soyza regarding the vote on the 2019 budget.
Meanwhile, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will convene in Parliament this morning to decide on their voting stance, TNA MP Mavai Senathirajah said.
