A petition was filed in the Court of Appeal requesting that the President be summoned to court and that a mental health report be called for considering the latter's behaviour in the recent days.
The petitioner Lakmali Jayewardene further stated in her petition that under the mental health ordinance, if an individual is deemed to be suffering from a mental health condition, the OIC of the area has the right to produce the individual before the District Courts and call for a health report.
