The Plantation Ministry is planning to revive the regular tea auctions in a bid to reduce the impact on the tea export market, Plantations Miniister Dr Ramesh Pathirana said.
He said that already the industry has suffered a set back duringthe past few weeks with some of the workers affected seriously without wages.
He said that plans were underway to get the auction revived by this week.
Dr Pathirana said that discussions were underway regarding the issue.
The drought conditions too have affected the industry.
