The newly established Financial Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) today filed a report on a fraud case where a Ceylon Elecricty Board (CEB) pension fund had been invested through agents to invest at Peoples Leasing Comapny (PLC) , a fully owned subsidary of the Peoples Bank. They told the courts that Rs 70 million had been paid out as commission to two agents before to invest at the leasing company. The FCID informed the Colombo Magistrate that the CEB accountant had claimed that there was no agents used to invest the money, while the Director of PLC said that there were agents used to invest the fund. Additional Magistrate of Colombo courts Nirosha Fernando directed the FCID to submit a further report when the case will be taken up on April 30.
