The President's Media Division has urged the public not to be misled by fraudsters claiming to be associated with the President or hold office in a state institution.
In a statement the PMD said there are reports that certain individuals while using the name on the President, the President’s office and claiming to hold positions in the President’s office are causing various harassments to the public, fear and are engaged in various frauds like promising employment opportunities.
The statement said such activities are being carried without the knowledge of the President or the President’s office.
Further it said the public is requested to inform the nearest Police station in the case of such incidents and urged not to be deceived by such activities.

Individuals who have obtained a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) yet do not meet the cutoff, can choose to remain tax exempt after notifying the IRD in writing, provided that their monthly income does not surpass the threshold, according to the State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
