The Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has launched a probe into the conduct of the Bandaragama police over the harassment of a woman in Atulugama.
A report in this regard is expected to be submitted within a month, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara told the press today (Jul 3).
It is reported that the woman had allegedly been subjected to harassment for marrying a person of a different ethnicity. A case in this regard is being heard before the Panadura Magistrate’s court.
However, the Bandaragama Police has been accused of failing to act swiftly over the incident.
