Against the backdrop of the AG's instructions issued to the Police to arrest riders with full face helmets, the committee appointed to discuss the matter has agreed that the full face helmets were a cause for security concerns, Police DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The Attorney General on Jun 6 informed the acting police chief that under emergency regulations motorcycle riders with full face helmets could be arrested.
The committee which convened to decide on how this full face helmet regulations could be implemented have taken a decision that traffic Police will be informed in future to advise and warn full face helmet riders to wear alternative helmets.
The decison was taken on the grounds of implementing security measures and as there were other alternative helmets that could be worn as a pose to full face ones, DIG Rohana said.
