Possible meeting between President and MR

A special meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to be arranged, the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian T. B. Ekanayake was quoted by the national news agency as saying.

Mr Ekanayake was quoted by the news agency as saying the meeting would focus on future activities in and outside Parliament, including preparations for elections.

He pointed out both Incumbent President and Former President have consented to sit for this meeting.

"This is a decent sign. Around seven of us were behind this attempt. The UNP is endeavoring to demonstrate that there would be a part in the gathering. This move put such questions to rest," he was quoted by the national news agency as saying.

Responding to a question by a journalist, the Parliamentarian was quoted as saying they have no arrangement to include Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga at this meeting.
