President arrives for ceremonial meeting of new Parliament
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in Parliament a short while ago for the ceremonial meeting of the Ninth Parliament.
President Rajapaksa was greeted at the steps of Parliament by newly elected Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Parliament Secretary General Dhammika Dassanayake.
The President is to deliver the new Government's Policy Statement in Parliament at 3.00pm.
