President Maithripala Sirisena has banned the flying of drones or any unmanned aircraft until further notice.
Issuing a gazette yesterday, the President said that the ban would be imposed in his capacity as the Minister of Defence.
Accordingly, all persons would be banned from operating drones or unmanned aircrafts within the Sri Lankan airspace except for Tri-Forces and the Police.
Last month, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) too issued a press release imposing a similar ban on drones and unmanned aircraft.
