President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has pointed out that only drivers of heavy vehicles should undergo full medical tests to obtain their driving licenses.
He had made these remarks during a meeting with officials of the Transport Ministry today (Dec 31), the President’s Office said in a media statement.
During the discussion, the President had said it would be sufficient for light vehicle drivers to undergo only eye examinations as a prerequisite to obtain the license.
On the same lines, he had also explored the possibility of conducting eye tests at hospitals as well.
